Promotion to Partner and Chief Design Officer

Some of us are often reminded to pause and celebrate the wins along the way. I confess this is so much easier for me to do for others than it is to do for myself. I will throw a party to celebrate you at the drop of a hat! 🥳

Well, something great has happened, something worthy of pause, of reflection. It’s not just a bleep in my career. It’s a monumental achievement. I am so excited to share with you that I’ve been promoted to Partner and Chief Design Officer at Platform Venture Studio. OH MY GOD! 😃

This has taken years of bustin’ my butt, visualizing, dreaming bigger, letting go of fear, learning, adapting, boldly accepting challenges, believing in yourself, valuing yourself, knowing someone will believe in you and see that greatness just as much.

One of those is my boss, Jeremy. I am so grateful to have met him and the studio the month he opened shop, and for the opportunity to join him in this journey. It was one of the best decision I’ve made, which has led me to this happy place, one where I can have direct impact in the formation of companies in tech. That would have been the most badass Chilena to my 16-year old self.

Dreaming Big

Big dreaming comes easy for kids. As a child, my dreaming big was all about finding that something that would make me happy and excited every day. I didn’t yet know what form that would take but I would know it when it happened.

Fast forward a few years, and there I was studying architectural design. It was alright but it wasn’t bringing me that much joy. It bored me. So, I switched to graphic design, animation, and psychology, and immediately I knew I’d found my happy place.

Design Issa Vibe

I have been a designer since the days of electronic desktop publishing. Who remembers Adobe Pagemaker, QuarkExpress, and the then cool kids Macromedia?! Yeah, I’ve been doing this for a LONG time. (Don’t get confused- I’m not saying I’m old. You’ll never hear me say those words 😉. I just started early. Haha!) And while some days and weeks (years even) are hard, I have never questioned my decision to be a designer. I freaking love what I do. Might it be that doing something that makes you really happy and where having a child-like playful, inquisitive attitude is a benefit actually help keep you young(er) after all? I’m betting on that.

The Next Chapter

My dreaming big has evolved since the early days. Now I dream of changing the world, of doing something never done before, of disrupting old business models and building new ones, of building successful businesses that create social change. I’m excited to do that and so much more in this new capacity as Chief Design Officer. It is no longer about finding my happiness. It’s about helping others find theirs.
